DESCRIPTION
A very rare wooden cash block featuring the initials of the Midland Railway Company. Hand carved from a single piece of wood and dating from the mid to late 19th century.
Cash blocks were used to hold money before the invention of the cash register and the bowl has been carved with a large radius at the bottom to make it easy to retrieve coins.
DIMENSIONS – H: 8cm W: 13.5cm D: 14cm.
CONDITION
It has wear and damage consistent with its age and use as well as a couple of cracks (although it remains solid) - Please look very closely at the pictures as they form part of the description.
