DESCRIPTION

An award for “The best performance of 1932 in a British film” presented to Emlyn Williams for The Frightened Lady, a tense crime thriller adapted from his own successful stage play.  Awarded by Film Weekly Magazine.

A large cast bronze plaque displayed on a varnished wooden stand – it is also strung and so can be displayed on a wall.    

 

Film Weekly was a popular film magazine published in the United Kingdom from 1928–1939.  The magazine held an annual reader ballot to determine the best film of the year and the best performance by an actor or actress in a British film.

 

George Emlyn Williams, CBE (1905 – 1987) was a Welsh writer, playwright and actor.

 

DIMENSIONS – H:  32cm including stand.  The plaque is 31cm in diameter.

 

CONDITION

The plaque is in very good condition.  The wooden stand is not original to the award; it is a plate stand of similar age - please look very closely at the pictures as they form part of the description.
