DESCRIPTION

A polychrome didactic (designed or intended to teach) plaster model of a mushroom on ebonised pine base by German model maker Fritz Kolbow (1878-1946).  The description translates to “Red-skinned Bolete”, a term referring to several species of mushrooms found in North America, Europe and parts of Asia.  This hand crafted model was made in Berlin, Germany in the very early 20th century.

DIMENSIONS – H:  14cm, base 12.5cm square.

CONDITION

The plaster mushrooms are in very good condition with a couple of cracks to the paint but no chips or other visible damage.  The upper label has some loss and there are two drilled holes in the base which are not original.  There is also glue residue around the edges of the base - please look very closely at the pictures as they form part of the description.
